Your registration on the Kuwait Management System is imperative, as it is the door for answers to all sorts of queries you may have during your academic pathway in the UK.
How do I know who my Academic Advisor is?
Once your scholarship letter has been issued, an academic advisor will be, automatically, assigned to you; according to your place/level of study .You can find that out through your online account when you login. Alternatively, you can ring up the Cultural Office using the Help Line Number, and request the name of your advisor.

When can I make a request for Change of Discipline?
If you are an English Language Student, it is best to apply for the change of discipline during your English language studies so that the Office will endeavour to get the Ministry’s approval for your change before the end of your Foundation year.
Will I get reimbursed for the IELTS exam fees?

Can I make a holiday request during my English Language course?
According to the Home Office’ rules and regulations, you are eligible for one week holiday for every 12 weeks of study. In case of an emergency, please speak to you academic advisor.
Can I go back to Kuwait after achieving the required IELTS scores for my admission to a foundation year?
You should contact your academic advisor to apply for a leave, provided that you meet the following conditions:
- Your English language course period is no less than 6months from your date of arrival.
- Your attendance is not below 90% for the entire period of study.
- Your IELTS scores are not below 5.5
- You obtain an unconditional offer and get it approved by the Cultural Office.

You can apply through UCAS on www.ucas.com, after checking the list of approved universities by the Cultural Office on our website. You can always approach your academic advisor to discuss your options, and receive informed advice.
What are the entry requirements for a Foundation year?
- High School grades (total GPA) and Major(Science, Art)
- IELTS scores
- Medicine and Dentistry students need to sit for UKCAT test within the year of applying for a foundation course (ex: if you intend to apply in 2014,you will need to do the test in 2014)
What happens if I am caught committing Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is considered a serious offence punishable by dismissal from or denial of sitting exams in addition to informing the Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education, which makes cancellation of your scholarship once investigations are done by the university/college. Therefore we advise you to check the accuracy of the work you do before handing in, interrupt relying on your own knowledge to answer.
What will happen if I do not attend classes due to a sickness or emergency?
You would need to inform college/university as soon as possible, and provide them with a sickness note from your local GP or Hospital. The college/university will then inform the Cultural Office if the period of absence exceeds one week. Also do inform your academic advisor in the case of an emergency.
Can I withdraw from my academic programme?
You would need to submit a request to your academic advisor through the Student Gateway on our website, by stating the reasons for your withdrawal. You should also inform your college/university about it. Your academic advisor will eventually get back to you with a decision after receiving a letter from the Ministry of Higher Education.
How does the Cultural Office follow my academic progress?
Progress reports are constantly sent to your academic advisor at the Cultural Office, showing your academic progress, attendance and punctuality. These are normally sent to the Ministry at the end of every month in case of Language student, and every term for other years of study.
I am a Medicine/Dentistry student. Can the office get me an offer to study Foundation?
Yes. Since it is hard to obtain a place to study Medicine/Dentistry in the UK, the Cultural Office does hold some seats for students at different approved universities. However, the number of seats at universities is very limited, and students are subject to Acceptance, Review or Refusal if students do not fulfil the university entry requirements.
Is it necessary to attend the induction week at the university before the start of my studies?
Yes, it is important, to find out more about the programmes taught at the university, get to know the tutors, teaching methods and students who might be with you in the same year.
What is meant by ‘’Academic Tutor’’ and what is his/her role
When students join studies, they will be under the supervision of an Academic Tutor/Personal Tutor, who will be in charge of communicating with and helping them through difficulties they have met across their academic year at university. The Tutor is also responsible for following up on matters both academic and personal.
How do I apply to study for the 1st year of degree at university?
You should apply through UCAS (www.ucas.com) during your Foundation year. You can always ask your academic advisor for help and advice. Make sure that the university you are applying for is approved by the Cultural Office.
How do I know which universities are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education?

Can I change my discipline?
You can make a request to the Cultural Office by contacting your academic advisor via ‘’Student Gateway’’. Bear in mind that the Ministry of Higher Education will not consider your request unless you pass your Foundation year.
Can I repeat the Foundation year if I fail?
Yes you can repeat the year provided that your attendance’ percentage does not fall below 90% for the previous year and your grades at final exams do not fall below C or its equivalent.
How does the Cultural Office follow my academic progress during the Foundation year?
The Office normally receives academic reports at the end for every term from the college/university you are studying at, showing your results of the modules you have been examined for. For the results of the final year exam, it is your responsibility to send these to the Cultural Office.
I am a Medicine/Dentistry student. I have not been admitted into the 1st year of the degree under my specialisation because of my results/failing the interview, what do I do?
