Congratulations Ms. Awrad Alsawagh
The Kuwait Cultural Office is proud to highlight the academic achievement of Ms. Awrad Alsawagh, Master of Pharmacy student at the University of East Anglia, who presented a research poster on the impact of social media on mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her research examined data from three regions, the UK, China, and Australia, showing how the pandemic’s isolation, lockdowns, and reliance on digital platforms affected people across different ages, occupations, and cultures. The study highlighted issues such as loneliness, depression, addictive social media use, and the challenges of readjusting to normal life after restrictions were lifted.
In addition, Ms. Alsawagh explored the role of social comparison in reducing self-esteem during this period and shared insights from her own two-week social media detox, which inspired many of her classmates to rethink their screen habits.
This achievement not only demonstrates Ms. Alsawagh’s research, analytical, and communication skills but also reflects her commitment to raising awareness about one of the most pressing challenges affecting mental health today.
Congratulations and best wishes towards more success.
