Congratulations Ms. Raghad Almashmoum

The Kuwait Cultural Office is delighted to highlight the academic accomplishments of Ms. Raghad Almashmoum, who recently graduated from the University of Bristol with First Class Honours in History.

Achievements:

  • Gardenhurst Prize in History (2024)  Awarded for the best overall performance by a second-year student.
  • George Hare Leonard Prize (2025) Awarded for the best overall performance in the final year.
  • Best Undergraduate Dissertation of 2025 Awarded for achieving a mark over 80, with her dissertation selected to be featured on the University of Bristol’s website.

 

Dissertation:


“Star of the East and Neighbour of the Moon: Female Arabic Singers’ Anti-Colonial Resistance”
Her research explores transnational decolonisation through the music of Fairouz (Lebanon) and Umm Kulthum (Egypt).

The Kuwait Cultural Office congratulates Ms. Almashmoum on her remarkable achievements and celebrates her dedication to advancing historical and cultural scholarship.
